Snow Delay

With approximately 18 inches of snow this past week, needless to say no progress on our home.  The forecast is promising this week, so let's hope for some forward progress.

Formal Living, Family Room and Dining Room - Model Photos

These are photos of what the main floor rooms will look like.  Our home will actually be a mirror image of these photos.  I am looking forward to decorating and putting my touches on the home.

Master Bedroom and Bathroom photos - Model Home

Below are photos of the Master Bedroom along with the sitting room and master bath.  We will have the same options in our home, less the trim work on the walls.  (Ryan homes did not offer that as an option, but it was in their model... go figure)

Model Home photos of the kitchen

These are photos of the model home's kitchen.  We used the same cabinets with a different glaze and the same color on the granite.  However, I have a different backsplash and different floors.  We will have 5" hand scraped dark espresso floors.  Can't wait for the end result!

Waterproofing has been completed.... more walls arrive!

Today JJ and I went out to the site and had the opportunity to view the basement walls.  The black paint on the walls is the waterproofing to prevent water from entering the home.  Let's hope it works!

We discovered there was 2 more pallets of walls delivered.  Looks like the a lot of lumber!  OMG!  Just in time for the snow storm tomorrow night.  UGH!  Thank goodness it's pressure treated wood.  A little snow won't hurt it much!  (Fingers crossed)

Creative ideas for our new home

One of the most exciting thing in building a home is that you get to put your personal touch on almost everything.  Below are some light fixtures I have been considering, but haven't made a final decision on as of yet.  I am sure this will come after we have closed and I actually can get furniture in the home and then put it all together.

Definitely getting 2 of these crystal chandeliers --- they will look amazing in my new walk in closet!

When we picked out the finishes for our home, we just choose oil bronze.  Nothing too fancy as I knew I would be changing out the lights not too long after we moved in.  This one I thought would look nice in the foyer and the stairs.

Morning Room/Breakfast Room!  Love this, but it will depend on what I pick out for the pendant lighting on the island.

FURNITURE IDEAS:

Furniture ideas.....  Really contemplating that we should have a sectional in our family room.  I love to change it up and I have been searching through Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, West Elm, the internet and much more.  I can believe it, I finally found this one!  The minute I saw this set I knew it was the one.   I love the colors!!!  Can't wait to see it in our new home in 3 months!

These photos are just of some furniture I seen at Belfort Furniture... I really like this rug and sofa!

Love this desk!!!  It would look amazing in my new office.

These two chairs are amazing.... not a big fan of the price.  I am sure I can find something on Overstock.com or Wayfield.com that will be comparable. So for now they are "inspiration" chairs.

So about 7 years ago, JJ and I bought new furniture for our home in Kansas.  Typically espresso headboard with a footboard.  However, I am ready to step into something much nicer.  I think this is it!  However, this is a 2015 wish :)

We have a basement!

As of February 9th, we have seen the beginnings of our new home take shape.  This is actually or should I say finally happening.  It seems like it's been a long time coming.  We know that from this point we should hopefully see things happen fairly quickly.  Weather permitting of course ;)   I know they are currently running about a week behind due to harsh cold weather and snow, so let's hope we can get the walls up before anything else hits us.... Oh wait, the East coast is scheduled to get another 4 to 8 inches of snow tomorrow night.  UGH! Guess it will be next week before we see more progress.

Foundation is being poured... a section of the home arrives

These photos were taken on February 7th.

Forms that outline our basement walls.....

Concrete Mixer is pouring concrete into the forms for our basement walls.

Truck is unloading the walls, rafters, that will make our house a home!

Wow... what a difference grading can make!

I am running a few day's behind on our post... this was completed as of 1 February.

This is the outline of our foundation for our home... we are very excited.  JJ and I are standing where our garage will be.   Our last post was the initial dig of the home, they actually excavated today below the frost line in preparation of installing the forms for the basement walls.
